AMERICAN ROCK SALT CO. LLC Position Description Position: Mine Technician Department: Engineering Reports To: Engineering Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Position Summary The Mine Technician position is responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting key technological systems within the mining operation.

This includes wireless communication systems, gas monitoring equipment, fiber optic line install/repair, data analytics, and supporting any new technology that is brought into the mine. This role requires a hands-on technician with strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Maintain the IWT (Innovative Wireless Technologies) System

• Recognize and troubleshoot IWT system issues.
• Install and replace nodes as needed.
• Install and replace antennas as needed.
• Change out low batteries as needed.
• Design and install underground yard move ups.
• Install 120V power to nodes.
• Operate the Dispatch Station which is computer that controls the IWT system.
• Add and remove employees from the Dispatch Station.
• Manage radios and personnel tags inventory.
• Accurately place nodes on the mine map.
• Monitor signal between nodes.
• System inventory management.
• Manage system part repair and replacement.

Maintain the Industrial Scientific Mine Gas Monitoring System

• Maintain and trouble shoot any issues relating to the MX6 handheld monitors, radius area monitors, and docking stations.
• Ensure calibration gas bottles are on hand & changed/replaced as needed.
• Set-up equipment for air quality testing in various areas of the underground mine.
• Calibrate and charge radius area monitors on a weekly basis.
• Become proficient in operating the INET Control web interface.

Overall

• Effectively communicate information supporting operations and resource management.
• Collaborate with engineering and mining teams to ensure project objectives and deadlines are met.
• Adhere to MSHA regulations and safety standards.
• Other duties as assigned.

Skills

• Previous experience working in the mining industry.
• MSHA: Detailed knowledge of MSHA regulations and safety.
• Data collection and analysis.
• Qualities: Excellent communication skills supporting project collaboration. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced working environment and meet required deadlines.

Education/Training/Experience

High School diploma and (5)+ years of mining experience.

Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.

This position is required to work in an area that is dusty and that may expose an individual to occasional diesel fumes. In addition, work surfaces under feet may include solid concrete, be uneven, contain heaves, boulders, and other aggregate material that could cause unstable footing and that would require an individual to stand upon for at least eight (8) hours per day or at least forty (40) hours per week.

This is an in-person position at American Rock Salt located at 5520 Route 63, Mount Morris, NY 14510.

Compensation

• Position Pay Range: $32/HR – $37/HR
• Full-Time
