Salary Range: $95,000 to $115,000 per year
SUMMARY
The Grants Accounting Manager is responsible for the overall accounting tasks associated with American Councils grant-funded and other programs. This role ensures that accounting practices are properly aligned with the unique structures, timelines, and requirements of each program, while maintaining compliance with applicable financial regulations and organizational policies. The Grants Accounting Manager is responsible for preparing and submitting accurate monthly invoices to funding agencies; reconciles invoices with the general ledger; and prepares budget accruals and other finance reports.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Manage full lifecycle of grants/contracts department and supervises three full time grants accountants and Analysts.
- Reviews of new and existing budget proposals and budget notes. In conjunction, prepares budgets with global program staff for Field offices.
- Supports CFO with organizational budget preparation.
- Meets with Program Managers on regular basis provide variance analysis and budget guidance.
- Prepares all necessary reports related to federal and private grants and federal cash/expense reports not limited to SF 270 and SF 425.
- Collaborate with Finance Manager for drawdowns bi-weekly, quarterly and keeps a schedule of federal revenues.
- Demonstrates hands-on experience with grant-based single audits and subject matter expertise in OMB Circulars A-122 and A-133
- Expertise in calculating and applying indirect cost and fringe benefit rates, with strong command of cost share requirements in grant applications and compliance frameworks.
- Reviews and prepares monthly invoices for the billing cycle and monitors expenses and drawdowns.
- Performs financial analysis and prepares financial reports using Business Central software to compare budgeted versus actual expenses.
- Support and facilitate with consistent monitoring and improvement of Financial Management system.
- Supports the ITIN application process for participants.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- Supervisory experience is required preferably in a nonprofit or government-funded environment.
- Advanced skillset and experience as applied to budgeting grants.
- Experience managing large, multimillion-dollar federal and private grants.
- Subject Matter Expert in Federal contract and grant experience related to budget and cost accounting. Especially in CFR 2 Part 200
- Experience with ERP systems preferred.
