Job Description

The AWS Solutions organization aims to provide business applications leveraging Amazon’s unique experience, used by millions worldwide to manage day-to-day operations. This is achieved by accelerating customer businesses through intuitive and differentiated technology solutions that solve enduring challenges. We combine vision with curiosity and Amazon’s real-world experience to build opinionated, turnkey solutions, becoming a trusted partner for customers who prefer buying over building. We seek individuals inspired to launch products with massive direct impact on Amazon’s customers and to join one of the newest and most exciting AWS services. Amazon Connect is a highly disruptive cloud-based contact center, enabling businesses to deliver engaging, dynamic, and personal customer service. It stems from ten years of development in building Amazon’s award-winning customer service tools at massive scale, now publicly available as an AWS service. With Amazon Connect, users can create a cloud-based contact center and begin taking calls in minutes. The service harnesses Artificial Intelligence and the vast AWS ecosystem, including Amazon Lex, Amazon Polly, AWS Lambda, Amazon S3, and Amazon Kinesis, to deliver a frustration-free, easy-to-use, extensible, and natural customer experience. This technology is transforming the industry, altering how customers interact with businesses and how agents provide service. Andy Jassy’s 2020 re:Invent keynote highlighted this initiative. The team has a rapidly growing customer base and an exciting charter involving complex engineering and algorithmic problems. We are looking for passionate Software Development Engineers to innovate on this new service, addressing customer needs for modern cloud contact centers. This position offers a rare chance to be part of a fast-growing business soon after launch, helping to shape its technology and product. You will play a crucial role in developing the next-generation contact center, designing and delivering scalable, resilient systems with a constant customer focus. As a Software Development Engineer II, you will own code end-to-end, from design to development, collaborating closely with senior technical leaders across AWS. You should possess a strong understanding of computer science fundamentals and practical industry experience, working across modern web, SOA, NoSQL databases, AI, ML, Big Data, and other technologies. This team is an excellent fit if you enjoy a fun, inclusive work environment, are sensitive to customer needs, and want to solve real customer problems with meaningful impact. You should be a passionate learner, motivated by new challenges, and keen to collaborate with talented engineers on complex problems while maintaining work-life balance. AWS values diverse experiences, encouraging all candidates to apply even if they don’t meet every preferred qualification. AWS is the world’s most comprehensive cloud platform, pioneering cloud computing. They value work-life harmony with flexible arrangements and foster an inclusive culture through employee-led affinity groups and continuous learning experiences. Mentorship and career growth are priorities, with endless knowledge-sharing and resources available. Basic qualifications include 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience, 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience in new and existing systems, and experience programming with at least one software language. Preferred qualifications include 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience (coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, operations) and a Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent. Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate. Los Angeles County applicants are subject to specific fair chance ordinances. If you have a disability, accommodations are available during the application and hiring process. The base salary range for this position in Santa Clara, CA, is 143,700.00 - 194,400.00 USD annually. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs), with final compensation determined by experience, qualifications, and location. Comprehensive benefits are also offered, including health insurance, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
