Junior Full Stack Web Developer (Remote)

Position Overview

Junior Full Stack Web Developer at Altus Engineering in Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. Salary: $70,000-100,000 per year. Altus Engineering is seeking a Junior Full Stack Web Developer to support our Department of Defense (DoD) projects on highly visible initiatives utilizing leading edge technologies. While this position is primarily remote, candidates must be available for in-person meetings at Aberdeen Proving Ground on a monthly basis.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and maintaining web applications for internal and external use.
• Support ongoing development of existing sites using PHP, JavaScript, SQL, and other technologies.
• Perform testing, troubleshooting, and debugging of web applications.
• Collaborate with senior developers, project managers, and customers to gather requirements and ensure timely project delivery.
• Learn and contribute to the design and implementation of new web-based systems based on customer needs.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain & maintain a SECRET Security Clearance.
• Foundational knowledge of web development concepts and programming.
• Proficiency with PHP 7+ OOP, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and MySQL or other relational databases.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Exposure to Linux/Apache environments.
• Experience with or interest in learning PHP MVC frameworks (e.g., CakePHP).
• Understanding of APIs and web service integration.
• Basic knowledge of Unix/Linux command-line tools.
