Job Description

About the Position The UX/UI & Digital Designer is responsible for enhancing user experiences across existing and new applications, improving visual consistency through design standards and libraries, and supporting the development of clear, user-centered interfaces. This role works closely with cross-functional teams to ensure design solutions meet both user needs and business objectives. This position also provides digital and graphic design support to the Geoanalytics team, including branded business development materials, presentation assets, product sheets, white papers, and other visual communication needs. Specific Responsibilities Re-skin and rebrand existing applications to improve aesthetics and user experience. Create and maintain design standards, component libraries, and templates to ensure consistency across applications and digital materials. Collaborate with developers to support efficient design handoff, including maintaining implementation-ready Figma files and contributing to emerging design-to-code workflows using AI-assisted tools. Conduct user research, testing, and feedback reviews to iterate on design solutions. Collaborate with product owners, developers, and stakeholders to define and implement innovative solutions for product direction and user experience. Design wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups for software interfaces and digital platforms. Support design handoff and ongoing implementation by clarifying design intent, maintaining organized design files in Figma, and exploring AI-assisted workflows that improve the transition from design to development. Support the Geoanalytics team with digital and graphic design deliverables, including presentation materials, email banners, LinkedIn graphics, product sheets, white papers, tech notes, and other branded collateral. Contribute to website and landing page design, content structure, and digital layout improvements in collaboration with internal stakeholders; Oversee the documentation and implementation of design processes, ensuring adherence to agile methodologies. Use correct methods in accordance with established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality. Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities In-depth knowledge of UX/UI design principles, patterns, and best practices. Proven experience with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe Creative Suite. Strong understanding of responsive design and accessibility standards. Experience creating wireframes, prototypes, high-fidelity mockups, and organized developer-ready design files. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including developers, product owners, business stakeholders, and marketing teams. Experience working with design systems, reusable components, and visual consistency across platforms. Strong visual design, layout, and branding skills, with the ability to produce both product and communication materials. Solid experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is a plus. Familiarity with React-based environments, Material UI, and CMS platforms is an asset. Ability to drive design decision-making and foster a culture of user-centered design within the team. Strong organization, communication, and self-management skills, with the ability to work proactively and independently. Interest in or familiarity with AI-assisted design-to-development workflows and emerging design-to-code tools is an asset. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree or diploma in Graphic Design, Interaction Design, UX/UI Design, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Preferably 1 to 3 years of industry experience in UX/UI design, digital design, or a related field, with experience in a collaborative environment preferred. Physical Demands Manual dexterity to perform intricate and/or repetitive tasks such as keyboarding; Ability to use and view a computer screen for up to 8 hours per day; Ability to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities.
