Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, providing exceptional patient service in a outpatient care setting. This role requires a strong attention to detail and reliability. The Medical Assistant will play a crucial role in enhancing patient care and ensuring smooth operations within the facility.
Clinical Care & Patient Support
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures.
- Prepare patients by obtaining vital signs, height, weight, blood pressure, medication lists, and allergy histories.
- Administer allergy injections, biologics, and perform specialty‑specific testing (spirometry, peak‑flow, skin testing).
- Monitor patients during post‑injection observation periods and recognize early signs of adverse reactions, following emergency protocols as needed.
- Educate patients on inhaler/spacer use, asthma action plans, test preparation, and general care instructions.
- Administer medications per provider direction and document all care accurately in the EHR.
Clinical Operations & Safety
- Maintain clean, organized exam rooms and ensure proper functioning of equipment.
- Uphold infection‑control standards and assist with inventory and supply management.
- Participate in emergency readiness and maintain familiarity with all safety procedures.
Communication & Patient Service
- Serve as a liaison between patients and providers to support excellent care.
- Communicate with pharmacies and labs; process medication refills via phone, fax, and electronic systems.
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients and families.
Administrative Duties
- Answer phones, take detailed messages, and assist with scheduling.
- Complete prior authorizations, scan/file charts, and manage incoming/outgoing faxes.
- Handle patient messages and documentation promptly within the EHR.
Multi‑Site Support
- Travel to other practice locations as needed to support clinical operations.
Qualifications
- 5 years of experience as a Medical Assistant or in a similar role within a healthcare setting is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on patient service and care.
- Ability to multi task and work effectively in a high patient volume environment
- Must demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development in the medical field.
- CPR Certified
- Ability to pay attention to details.
- Availability to work late afternoon/ evening hours as our patients need after school and work times. Please thoroughly review our website for specific hours as they are listed.
- Reliable transportation is required to travel between our other office locations as needed.
Preferred
- Certified/Registered MA credential (CMA, RMA, CCMA)
- Previous allergy, asthma, or immunology experience
- Experience administering injections
- Comfort working with infants, children, and adults
- Familiarity with spirometry and allergy testing procedures
