Intermediate and Junior Biologist (several positions)
We are recruiting for both intermediate and Junior Biologist positions to join our team based out of Sylvan Lake, Alberta. This position is ideal for someone who desires ongoing skills development in fish and wildlife assessment through both field work and technical report writing, within the consulting industry.
Responsibilities
- Bird nest sweeps, wildlife assessments, deterrents, and monitoring.
- Fish and fish habitat assessments and construction monitoring.
- Data management, Technical report writing.
- Assisting other disciplines (e.g. veg/wetlands) as required.
Qualifications
- We are seeking a hardworking, mature, career-orientated individual with an interest in fisheries and/or wildlife biology. The successful candidate will report to the intermediate and senior fisheries and wildlife biologists. Both field and writing aptitude are important skills required for this position.
- Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in biological, conservation sciences, natural resource or equivalent degree (for intermediate positions)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Availability to work flexible hours as project requirements dictate
- Willing and able to travel and work in remote locations in potentially harsh weather conditions for extended periods of time (2 to 3 weeks) & in good physical condition
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
Experience Assets
- Fisheries, wildlife, or vegetation experience in Canada, preferably in the consulting industry.
- Master’s Degree in biology
- Field experience in Western or Northern Canada, consulting experience
- Report writing, data analysis, statistical analysis, GIS (QGIS or Arc GIS)
- Field equipment use and maintenance (e.g. 4x4 trucks, trailers, UTV, Argo, ATV, boats, snowmobile)
