Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) is seeking someone like you for the role of Quality MLT I to support our organization in achieving and maintaining excellence in our Quality Management System (QMS). In addition to your strong attention to detail and good judgement, you have strong organizational and communication skills that enable you to work both independently and collaboratively within a virtual team. Your adaptability and comfort with change make you a great fit for this evolving environment. You have a passion for customer service, standardization, and continual improvement. A solid understanding of College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) accreditation standards and best practices in document management are essential. Reporting to the Quality Lead, in this position you’ll have the opportunity to play a key role in supporting the transition of legacy document management and quality management systems to a provincial model. In addition, this position may assist with tasks associated with external and internal assessment, and non-conforming event reporting. The APL Quality Department is a provincial department with members located across the province. As such, work location and hybrid work arrangements may be negotiable. This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, with 1-3 days on site per week. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, APL currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) I, you will be responsible for the daily processing, testing, results analysis and reporting of diagnostic samples within the laboratory department. You will perform a variety of routine and specialized procedures in the processing of specimens used in diagnosis, treatment and research.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum of three (3) years’ experience working as an MLT, within the last five years. Minimum one (1) year experience with document development and revision within the last 5 years.
Preferred Qualifications
QMS Certificate or equivalent education. One (1) year experience with advanced user functions in an electronic document management system. Recent (in the last 5 years) experience participating in accreditation activities. Recent (in the last 5 years) experience participating in process improvement projects. Education in change management and/or project management.
