Job Summary
JOB TITLE: Technology Technician
SALARY SCHEDULE: T - 12 month
FLSA: Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Coordinator of Technology
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the system's approved compensation plan.
- Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the system.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school graduate, or equivalent.
- Prefer formal technical training experience, A+ certification, MSCE,
or CISCO certification.
- Experience with diagnosing, repairing, and solving computer hardware, printer, and software problems.
- Extensive knowledge of Internet applications, database applications, HTML and programming is preferred.
- Experience with office automation applications, Email, Microsoft Office products, or similar software is preferred.
- Prefer experience with student management applications and educational software.
- Must possess a valid Alabama Driver's License.
- Must meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama statutes and State Board of Education regulations.
REQUIRED DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Diagnose and resolve campus network issues, as well as computer hardware and software problems.
- Respond to and manage support requests through a ticketing system or in person, ensuring timely resolution of site-based technical issues.
- Troubleshoot and repair hardware and software problems associated with desktops, laptops, Chromebooks, iPads, printers, and other peripheral devices.
- Assist with the installation of new computer equipment and software.
- Support in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of network infrastructure, including local and wide-area networks (LAN/WAN), file servers, switches, routers, and communication devices.
- Support and maintain network security measures and monitor internet access across the district.
- Assist with user account management in systems such as Active Directory, Google Workspace, and Student Information Systems (SIS).
- Support email systems and directory services for district staff.
- Supervise NetWare Directory Services for school system's local and wide-area-networks.
- Install, configure, image, and deploy new computer equipment and devices.
- Perform routine maintenance on computer systems, including cleaning, testing, and upgrades.
- Install, update, and license software applications for instructional and administrative use.
- Support classroom technology including interactive whiteboards (e.g., SmartBoards), projectors, audio systems, and document cameras.
- Ensure devices are properly configured and operational for state and local online assessments.
- Maintain accurate inventory of hardware, software, and technology assets; assist with audits as needed.
- Assist with data collection and reporting for district and state requirements.
- Process and update technical work orders and repairs, and maintain documentation of services performed.
- Communicate effectively with faculty and staff to provide clear technical instructions and support.
- Provide training and documentation on the proper use of hardware and software.
- Offer technical guidance and recommendations regarding technology needs.
- Work cooperatively with the Technology Coordinator to implement new technologies and support district initiatives.
- Assist in developing and supporting technology training for staff and students.
- Adhere to district technology policies and procedures.
- Maintain data security and confidentiality in accordance with FERPA, COPPA, and other applicable regulations.
- Perform malware removal and ensure system integrity and protection.
- Follow supervisor instructions and complete assigned tasks.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Technology Coordinator or immediate supervisor.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Minimum of three (3) year job experience in relation to this position
- Strong knowledge of troubleshooting Windows and Mac operating systems, iOS (iPads), ChromeOS, and networking principles.
- Physical dexterity, coordination, mobility, and visual acuity to perform the technical tasks assigned.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.
