Position: HP NonStop Systems Engineer (Infrastructure & Database)

Location: Remote (GTA preferred – occasional onsite 1–2 times per month)

Duration: 12+ Months Contract

Compensation: $50 INC

About the Opportunity

This role supports a mission‑critical HP NonStop environment for enterprise‑level applications. The position requires deep expertise in system software, hardware, database operations, communications, and automation within NonStop systems.

You will work across multiple infrastructure functions—including OS currency, patching, hardware analysis, database configuration, replication, storage provisioning, communications setup, and monitoring automation. The role demands excellent communication, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to operate in high‑pressure, production‑critical environments.

The ideal candidate brings solid experience with HP NonStop tools, utilities, and ecosystem components, while demonstrating flexibility, ownership, and a collaborative mindset

Role Overview

The HP NonStop Systems Engineer is responsible for ensuring reliability, patching cycles, performance tuning, system upgrades, database support, storage provisioning, communications configuration, and automation setup across HP NonStop systems.

This position requires hands‑on knowledge of subsystem components, PCI standards, encryption hardware, NonStop security utilities, replication frameworks, and end‑to‑end operational support

How You’ll Make Contributions That Matter

System Software & Hardware

  • Manage OS currency, patch cycles, and critical SPRs for NonStop systems.
  • Investigate and resolve hardware alerts and coordinate vendor or onsite support when needed.
  • Maintain system access processes and ensure continuous operational readiness.

Database & Storage Responsibilities

  • Configure databases for application and infrastructure needs.
  • Support replication utilities and data movement across NonStop and external systems.
  • Size disks based on database requirements and support backup, retention, and restoration processes.
  • Assist automation teams with batch jobs and cleanup procedures.

Communications (Comms) Support

  • Configure communication subsystems for internal and external components.
  • Set up SSH/SSL configurations and collaborate with networking teams.
  • Ensure robust connectivity between consoles, infrastructure services, and distributed components.

Automation & Monitoring

  • Configure automation utilities for central monitoring.
  • Support application and infrastructure alert monitoring setups.
  • Assist with job scheduling, alerting, and ongoing operational oversight.

You Are Best Suited for the Role If You Have:

  • Minimum 2 years of hands‑on experience with HP NonStop systems
  • Strong working knowledge of:
  • TACL, FUP, SCF
  • SQL/MX, SQL/MP, Enscribe databases
  • NonStop system software & DSM/SCM
  • WebSphere MQ for NonStop
  • SecureDPS (comForte)
  • Xygate Merged Audit (Xypro)
  • Atalla hardware encryption devices
  • Understanding of PCI compliance requirements
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in high‑availability, production environments
  • Experience supporting business‑critical applications
  • Flexibility to work extended or varied hours as needed
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
