Salary Range: [130]-[140]
Note: DICOM and HL7 experience is mandatory.

About This Opportunity:
On behalf of our client, we are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer, Automation to join a newly established engineering hub in Toronto. This is a net-new role created to support the growth of automated imaging and enterprise workflow systems.
The Senior Systems Engineer will address complex software and hardware challenges impacting system performance, reliability, and maintainability across enterprise imaging environments. This role directly contributes to enhancing end-to-end radiology workflows while also providing mentorship to junior engineers.

What You’ll Do:
- Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of system hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
- Identify workflow inefficiencies and engineer solutions to improve system performance end-to-end.
- Develop tools that support proactive monitoring, automation, and environment management.
- Manage operating system and application updates, patches, and hotfixes.
- Plan and execute data migrations including HL7, DICOM, and other clinical datasets.
- Model and implement solutions aligned with evolving business and technical goals.
- Provide senior technical leadership in cross-functional teams regarding hardware, OS, and software configurations.
- Author and refine system documentation, technical procedures, and operational processes.
- Lead advanced technical support activities and mentor system engineers.
- Evaluate and recommend new hardware and peripheral technologies.
- Conduct R&D efforts to bring continuous innovation to the infrastructure ecosystem.
- Ensure compliance with organizational processes, standards, and security guidelines.
- Collaborate with security teams to maintain system resiliency and safeguard data.
- Monitor and report on system performance, generating statistics and analysis.
- Build and maintain vendor relationships to resolve issues and optimize systems.
- Train end users—including radiologists—and develop training materials as needed.
What You Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or 10+ years equivalent work experience.
- 10+ years in healthcare IT, primarily in Enterprise Imaging.
- Deep experience with radiology applications (PACS, EMRs, VNAs, voice recognition solutions) and interoperability standards.
- Expert-level knowledge of DICOM and HL7 protocols.
- 10+ years working with scripting/development languages (VB, Java, Python, Bash, Perl).
- 5+ years working with major cloud providers (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and managed cloud services.
- Experience with cloud-based deployment technologies and data migration strategies.
- Strong understanding of imaging workflows and radiology operations.
- Experience with radiology workstations and peripherals (multi‑monitor setups, Windows environments, dictation mics).
- Knowledge of network infrastructure (TCP/IP, HTTP, gRPC, DNS, load balancing), databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle), and data center security.
- Experience with virtualization (VMware, Hyper‑V, KVM).
- Hands‑on expertise with Windows, Linux, Docker, and Kubernetes.
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
