Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Bookkeeper to join our office. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable and receivable, and ensuring the integrity of our accounting processes. This role offers an opportunity to work with leading accounting software and contribute to the financial health of our organization.
Candidates should have a strong background in bookkeeping, accounting, and financial analysis, with proficiency in various accounting tools. A commitment to accuracy, confidentiality, and timely reporting is essential for success in this position. (Pay range: $20-25+/hour)
Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Maintain general ledger, trial balances, and supporting schedules
- Perform month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries and reconciliations
- Analyze variances and provide insights to management
Full-Cycle Accounting
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll entries
- Perform bank and account reconciliations
- Ensure accurate recording of transactions and proper documentation
- Utilize accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar) for daily operations
Audit & Compliance
- Support external audits and prepare audit working papers
- Respond to auditor inquiries
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies
Tax & Regulatory
- Assist with corporate tax filings (HST, income tax, payroll remittances)
- Support CRA audit inquiries and government assessments
- Process Improvement & Controls
- Strengthen internal controls to reduce risk of misstatement or asset misuse
- Improve accounting workflows and reporting efficiency
Experience
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, payroll processing, and financial reporting
- CPA designation (or in progress) preferred
- Proven 1–3+ years of experience in corporate or public accounting preferred
- Basic knowledge of IFRS and/or GAAP
- Experience managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations
- Proficiency using accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
