Location: Calgary (Mon–Thurs in office; periodic field travel)
Position Overview
This is a long‑term contract opportunity supporting the execution of pipeline and facility projects within a growing capital program. The Pipeline & Facilities Project Engineer works alongside Project Managers to deliver small‑to‑medium capital projects tied into pipeline systems, including pump stations, LACT units, metering, tanks, compressor tie‑ins, and associated facility infrastructure. The role is execution‑focused, coordinating engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities to ensure safe, compliant, and cost‑effective project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Project Execution & Delivery
- Support Project Managers in delivering pipeline and facility projects from early scoping through construction and commissioning.
- Translate business requirements into practical execution and construction strategies.
- Ensure projects meet approved cost, schedule, functionality, throughput, and reliability targets.
- Coordinate EPC/EPCM partners, construction contractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Provide field support during construction, tie‑ins, and commissioning as required.
Engineering Coordination
- Review engineering deliverables including P&IDs, isometrics, plot plans, equipment datasheets, and construction work packages.
- Manage technical queries, design changes, and interface issues across disciplines.
- Ensure engineering work complies with corporate specifications, standards, and regulatory requirements.
Regulatory, Land & Environmental
- Support regulatory, land, First Nations, and environmental applications related to pipeline and facility construction.
- Provide technical input for permitting, environmental assessments, and stakeholder engagement.
Project Controls & Governance
- Work within the Project Delivery Governance Lifecycle (PDGL) to achieve stage‑gate approvals.
- Collaborate with project controls to develop cost estimates, schedules, forecasts, accruals, and earned‑value metrics.
- Prepare and manage scopes of work, RFPs, RFIs, purchase requisitions, and contract documents.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks; support Management of Change (MOC) processes.
Contractor & Vendor Management
- Direct and coordinate engineering consultants, construction contractors, and suppliers.
- Apply proactive contract management practices to ensure performance, compliance, and minimal claims.
- Participate in vendor evaluations, bid reviews, and procurement planning.
Safety & Quality
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure all work meets corporate HSSE expectations.
- Ensure quality assurance and quality control requirements are embedded throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications
- P.Eng designation (mandatory).
- 5–15 years of relevant experience in pipeline and/or facility project execution.
- Strong technical knowledge of pipeline‑connected facilities: pumps, LACT units, metering, tanks, compressor tie‑ins, and related equipment.
- Experience with EPC/EPCM coordination and construction execution.
- Working knowledge of CSA Z662, ASME B31.3, and Alberta/BC regulatory requirements.
- Proven ability to manage cost, schedule, forecasting, and earned‑value metrics.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder‑management skills.
- Field experience in pipeline and facility construction is an asset.
- PMP designation is considered an asset.
- Ability to travel periodically to project sites.
