Machine Operator – 2nd Shift (Press Brake Operator)
Position Overview
The Machine Operator – Press Brake (2nd Shift) is responsible for setting up, programming, and operating press brake machines to bend and form sheet metal according to detailed blueprints and technical specifications. This role is ideal for candidates with 1–3 years of press brake experience who are looking to grow their skills in a modern, high-growth manufacturing environment.
You’ll play a key role in ensuring product quality, maintaining equipment reliability, and supporting safe and efficient production operations. Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate press brake machines to bend and form sheet metal in accordance with blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Program press brake equipment and accurately input dimensions into machine software.
- Adjust machine settings, including bend angles, flange lengths, tooling, and material positioning, to meet tolerance requirements.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and fabrication prints to determine proper setup and operating parameters.
- Perform in-process and final inspections to ensure finished parts meet quality and dimensional standards; make adjustments as needed.
- Conduct routine preventive maintenance and assist with troubleshooting equipment issues.
- Communicate equipment malfunctions promptly and coordinate with maintenance teams to minimize downtime.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with company policies and safety standards.
- Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and actively promote a safe work environment.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals, resolve issues, and support efficient workflows.
- Accurately document production data, including materials used, parts produced, and any deviations or adjustments.
- Assist with training, cross-training, and knowledge sharing as equipment and processes evolve.
- Participate fully in the initial training program and ongoing development opportunities.
Required Qualifications
- 1–3 years of hands-on experience operating press brake machines for sheet metal bending.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication specifications.
- Experience with press brake setup, operation, and basic programming.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
- Effective communication skills in English, including ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, perform repetitive tasks, and lift materials up to 50 pounds.
- Manual dexterity and strong hand–eye coordination for safe equipment operation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CNC press brake programming.
- Experience in sheet metal fabrication, punch press operation, or general machining.
- Familiarity with manufacturing workflows and production environments.
- Bilingual skills (Spanish/English) are a plus.
- Ability to work a rotating 2-2-3 schedule with 12-hour shifts.
- Willingness to learn new equipment and processes through hands-on training.
- Demonstrated reliability, strong work ethic, and commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
Work Schedule & Environment
- Shift: 2nd Shift (Rotating 2-2-3 schedule)
- Hours: 12-hour shifts (6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.) following an initial Monday–Friday training period
- Facility: Brand-new manufacturing plant supporting 200–250 employees
You’ll work on a modern manufacturing floor with exposure to machinery, production noise, and varying temperatures. The role requires standing or walking for most of the shift and occasional lifting of 25–50 pounds.

- Steel-toed boots required
- Safety glasses provided
- Long pants made of durable material (no leggings)
- Long sleeves or company-provided cut-resistant sleeves
The first week is dedicated entirely to training, ensuring you are fully prepared to operate equipment safely and confidently before joining your assigned team.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hanover, MD.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
