Job Description

The HVAC Technician performs routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of a wide range of HVAC systems, including refrigeration, air conditioning, and heating, to ensure they operate at optimal performance levels while delivering exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance on HVAC systems, including filter replacement, system testing, and cleaning to ensure reliable and efficient operation.
  • Troubleshoot and repair all types of HVAC systems, including refrigeration, air conditioning, heating, and split systems.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical problems associated with HVAC equipment in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Install and service split systems and related HVAC equipment, particularly in multifamily environments.
  • Complete accurate and timely record-keeping for all maintenance and repair activities performed.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients to explain issues, solutions, and maintenance recommendations, providing exceptional customer service at all times.
  • Provide informed recommendations for system upgrades or replacements when necessary to improve performance, efficiency, or reliability.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area and ensure all tools and equipment are properly maintained and calibrated.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to stay current with industry standards, best practices, and emerging HVAC technologies.
  • Work both independently and as part of a team to complete assignments safely, efficiently, and to a high standard of quality.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in HVAC service.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair all types of HVAC systems, including refrigeration, air conditioning, and heating.
  • Hands-on experience with split systems and HVAC installation, including work in multifamily settings.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical principles related to HVAC equipment.
  • Ability to diagnose complex electrical and mechanical issues and implement effective repairs.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with clients and team members.
  • High level of attention to detail and strong organizational skills for accurate record-keeping and task management.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Capability to lift and carry heavy equipment up to 50 pounds safely.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

  • EPA certification preferred.

Work Environment

This role primarily operates in construction environments and multifamily settings, where you will work on a variety of HVAC systems, including refrigeration, air conditioning, heating, and split systems. The position involves field-based work that requires travel between job sites using reliable transportation. You will use a range of HVAC tools and diagnostic equipment, which must be maintained and calibrated regularly. The work includes physical activity such as lifting and carrying equipment up to 50 pounds, working in mechanical rooms, and navigating active construction areas while following safety practices.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rockville, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
