Job Description
Overview
The Critical Threats Project (CTP), led by Senior Fellow Frederick W. Kagan, tracks and analyzes current and emerging threats to American national security. The intern will fulfill operations projects and tasks for the team, gaining skills transferrable to many professions.
The intern will curate content for CTP's website and social media platforms. Social media work will include researching and implementing new creative strategies to increase social media engagement, monitoring and reporting on the success of social media initiatives, and identifying trends to maximize impact. The intern will also provide operational support for the project, which may include creating graphics and other promotional materials, tracking metrics to determine impact, and providing additional support to the team as required. The intern will develop the team's knowledge management by creating and refining procedures documents. The intern may work on additional special projects.
The intern will gain exposure to a range of foreign policy issues while developing communication, public speaking, writing, and advanced computer skills. Interested candidates should demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills, logic skills, and attention to detail. Successful candidates will have an eye for continuous improvement and enjoy coordinating many moving parts.
Candidates who can intern at least 20 hours a week in-person are preferred. Hours must fall within normal business hours in Eastern Time from Monday through Friday. Please include your weekly availability for the position in your cover letter.

AEI internships offer a unique opportunity for undergraduates, graduate students, and recent graduates to gain experience in research, writing, business, and communications at one of the nation's leading think tanks.
Competitive candidates will generally have a GPA of 3.5 or higher from a top-ranking college or university. AEI's internship program runs for 12 weeks and all related programming will take place in-person in Washington, DC. Please see the internship program home page for updates about the program.
The fall program dates are either Tuesday, September 8, to Friday, December 4 or Tuesday, September 15, to Friday, December 11.
