Job Description
AECOM is seeking an accomplished Vice President of Mining to provide strategic leadership across our West Region. This role is focused on driving market growth, strengthening executive-level client relationships, and ensuring the successful delivery of large, complex mining projects worldwide. The ideal candidate brings a strong blend of business acumen, technical credibility, and people leadership, with the ability to shape strategy, lead major pursuits, and partner across AECOM's global platform to deliver innovative, integrated solutions for mining clients.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute regional and/or global mining market strategies aligned with AECOM's growth objectives.
- Drive revenue growth, profitability, and backlog development across mining and metals services.
- Identify, position, and lead major pursuits, including EPCM, program management, and advisory engagements.
- Build, maintain, and expand executive-level client relationships with key mining operators and developers.
- Provide thought leadership and market insight to support long-term business planning and investment decisions.
Operational Oversight
- Provide executive oversight of project delivery, ensuring performance against scope, schedule, budget, and risk objectives.
- Champion AECOM's quality, safety, and ethical standards across all mining projects and teams.
- Support effective resource planning, talent development, and succession planning within the mining business.
- Act as an escalation point for complex delivery, commercial, or client issues, driving timely and effective resolution.
Collaboration and Integration
- Partner with global teams across water, environment, geotechnical, infrastructure, and other disciplines to deliver integrated solutions.
- Support cross-business collaboration to unlock new opportunities and expand AECOM's value proposition in the mining sector.
- Encourage innovation, digital adoption, and best practices to enhance project delivery and client outcomes.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Geology, or a related discipline and 12+ years of mining industry experience, including 4 years of leadership experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Preferred Qualifications
- 30+ years of progressive leadership experience within the mining sector, including senior roles in consulting, EPCM, or owner/operator environments.
- Demonstrated success leading large, multidisciplinary mining programs and complex project portfolios.
- Established executive-level client network across the global mining and metals market.
- Proven P&L responsibility or senior business leadership experience within a professional services organization.
- Strong track record of building high-performing teams and developing future leaders.
