Overview
Adastra is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to support enterprise data warehousing initiatives within a structured, large-scale environment. This role will focus on developing, optimizing, and maintaining data warehouse solutions, with a strong emphasis on SQL development and Teradata utilities. The ideal candidate brings solid data engineering experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and business teams. Finance industry experience is considered an asset.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, develop, and maintain data warehouse solutions to support reporting and analytics
- Write and optimize complex SQL queries for large-scale datasets
- Utilize Teradata utilities (BTEQ, MLOAD, FastLoad, etc.) for data ingestion and batch processing
- Develop and maintain ETL workflows to ensure accurate and timely data delivery
- Support data validation, quality checks, and performance tuning within the data warehouse
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, and technical teams to gather requirements and translate them into scalable solutions
- Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues in production environments
- Document technical processes, workflows, and data definitions
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in Data Engineering
- Strong SQL development skills, including complex joins, aggregations, and query optimization
- Strong experience working with Teradata utilities (BTEQ, MLOAD, FastLoad, etc.)
- Solid experience working within Data Warehouse (DWH) environments
- Experience building and maintaining ETL processes in production environments
- Strong understanding of data modeling concepts and structured data systems
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience within the finance or banking industry
- Exposure to large enterprise data platforms
- Familiarity with data governance and regulatory data environments
- Experience working in agile delivery environments
