Job Title: Branch Manager – Agency Channel (Insurance)
Role Overview
The Branch Manager – Agency Channel is responsible for driving business growth through the agency distribution model by recruiting, training, and managing insurance advisors. The role focuses on achieving premium targets, building a high-performing agency force, ensuring compliance, and strengthening the company’s market presence within the assigned branch territory.
Key Responsibilities
Agency Development & Recruitment
- Recruit, onboard, and develop insurance advisors/agents as per company norms
- Build a productive and sustainable agency network
- Conduct regular agent activation and engagement initiatives
Business Growth & Sales
- Drive new business premium (NBP) and renewal targets through the agency channel
- Ensure achievement of branch-wise revenue, productivity, and persistency targets
- Plan and execute local sales campaigns and promotional activities
Training & Capability Building
- Train advisors on insurance products, sales techniques, and compliance standards
- Conduct joint sales calls, field coaching, and performance reviews
- Develop future leaders from within the agency force
Team & Branch Management
- Lead and manage Agency Managers / Development Managers
- Monitor daily branch performance and advisor productivity
- Ensure optimal utilization of branch resources
Customer Service & Retention
- Ensure high-quality customer onboarding and service delivery
- Handle escalations related to advisors, customers, and policy servicing
- Improve persistency, renewal collection, and customer satisfaction
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure adherence to IRDAI regulations and company policies
- Maintain accurate documentation, MIS reporting, and audits
- Promote ethical selling and risk control practices
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Proven sales and business development expertise
- Ability to recruit, motivate, and retain advisors
- Good understanding of insurance products and regulations
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills
Eligibility Criteria
- Graduate/Postgraduate in any discipline
- 6–10 years of experience in insurance sales, preferably in Agency Channel
- Minimum 2–4 years of team handling experience
- Local market knowledge preferred

- New Business Premium (NBP) achievement
- Active advisor count and productivity
- Persistency and renewal ratios
