We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Lab Medical Coder with strong knowledge of US Medicare and Medicaid coding guidelines. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately reviewing, coding, and auditing laboratory services while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and payer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and assign appropriate CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes for laboratory services
- Ensure compliance with Medicare and Medicaid billing regulations
- Interpret lab reports and physician documentation to ensure accurate coding
- Identify and correct coding errors or discrepancies
- Stay updated with changes in coding guidelines, payer policies, and regulatory requirements
- Work closely with billing, compliance, and clinical teams to resolve coding-related issues
- Maintain productivity and accuracy standards as defined by the organization
- Participate in audits and quality assurance activities
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2–4 years of experience in laboratory medical coding
- Strong knowledge of US Medicare and Medicaid guidelines
- Certification such as CPC (Certified Professional Coder), CCS, or equivalent
- Proficiency in ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems
- Experience with lab-specific coding (pathology, clinical lab services)
- Good understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with US healthcare clients
- Familiarity with coding software and EMR systems
- Prior experience in offshore coding environments (if applicable)
