Plant Accountant (Contract | Potential for Permanent Hire)

Scarborough, ON (100% On-Site – 5 Days/Week)

$30–$35 per hour

Duration: 3–7 Month Contract (with strong potential to convert to permanent)

About the Role

Our client is currently seeking a driven and detail-oriented Plant Accountant to join a well-established manufacturing operation in Scarborough. This is a hands-on, on-site role supporting plant finance and operations, ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced production environment. This contract opportunity offers strong potential for long-term growth and permanent placement.

Key Responsibilities

• Support full-cycle month-end close, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
• Analyze manufacturing variances, including labor, materials, and overhead
• Monitor inventory levels, cost of goods sold (COGS), and production activity
• Partner closely with plant operations to provide financial insights and improve efficiencies
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting for plant-level performance
• Prepare financial reports and variance analysis for management review
• Assist with internal and external audits as required

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of accounting experience, with

mandatory manufacturing experience

• Experience working in a plant or production environment is highly preferred
• Proficiency in ERP systems (D365 preferred)
• Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data analysis and formatting)
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills

Work Environment

• Fully on-site role in a manufacturing plant setting
• Collaborative environment with close interaction between finance and operations teams
