Junior Accountant (Real Estate & Construction Development)

Company Description

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join our Toronto team. This role provides essential support to the Controller and the senior accounting team across our portfolio of development projects. The ideal candidate is someone who has a solid grasp of accounting principles, learns quickly, and is ready to contribute immediately to the daily financial operations of a fast-paced development firm.

Responsibilities

• Daily Accounting Support: Assist with full-cycle accounting tasks, including accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
• Tax & Filings: Help prepare working papers for HST filings and assist with corporate tax documentation as required.
• Project Tracking: Support project accounting by processing invoices, tracking construction expenditures, and maintaining accurate job costing records.
• Documentation & Compliance: Organize and maintain financial records, ensuring all documentation is audit-ready and compliant with company standards.
• Reporting & Analysis: Assist in the month-end closing process and help prepare internal financial reports and Excel-based tracking schedules.
• Other Tasks: Provide administrative and financial support to the senior accounting team on various operational projects.

Qualifications

• Relevant Experience: 1–2 years of accounting experience. Previous exposure to the Real Estate or Construction industry is a strong asset.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Familiarity with accounting software is preferred.
• Educational Background: Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Language: English and Mandarin are required to coordinate with internal teams and stakeholders.
• Attributes: High level of accuracy, a strong sense of responsibility, and the ability to work effectively in a professional office environment.
