Responsibilities
Assemble scientific instruments using 2D drawings, 3D computer models, hand sketches and/or self direction
- Precision cleaning of parts and optics for assembly
- Preparation and maintenance of hardware documentation packages
- Shipping and Receiving duties to include, but not limited to: packing items to arrive at destination with no damage, preparation of packing slips, preparation of shipping documents with UPS, USPS, Fedex or other services using online portals
- Maintain inventory of parts and assemblies using our inventory tracking system
- Maintain stock of standard items in an organized and well-labeled manner
- Perform incoming inspection of piece parts from outside vendors using calipers, micrometers, height gauge, gauge blocks, CMM, etc and alert senior staff to discrepancies
- Keep facility organized and clean
- Other similar duties as assigned
Requirements
ñ High school diploma or GED equivalence ñ Previous machining experience a plus ñ The ability to work in a fast-paced, troubleshooting environment ñ The ability to self-direct your work without instruction on repeatable tasks and to adapt skills and experiences to new tasks ñ Ability to take accurate measurements and inspect parts correctly ñ Attention to detail is a must ñ Must have strong verbal and written communication skills ñ Must be able to work in a team environment as well as independently ñ Prior experience utilizing hand tools is preferred ñ Must adhere to all Safety Programs ñ Good manual dexterity while gloved and good eyesight to work with small optical and mechanical parts ñ Familiarity with both the Imperial and the Metric units of measurement ñ Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record ñ Computer experience with navigating the Web and use of Email, basic office application experience and ability to navigate our network to locate necessary files and the ability to navigate our CAD software after basic training are essential
