Summary

We are seeking a clinically skilled physician assistant both administrative and hands-on patient care activities within our primary care clinic. This role is ideal for International Medical Graduates (IMGs) seeking Canadian clinical exposure while working within a non-regulated support role under physician supervision.

The successful candidate will contribute to efficient clinic operations while assisting physicians with vaccinations, basic wound care, and general clinical support to ensure high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Support

• Prepare and room patients for appointments
• Collect patient information, medical histories, medications, and allergies
• Record vital signs and prepare charts for physician review
• Administer vaccines and injections as directed by the physician
• Perform basic dressings and simple wound care
• Assist physicians during minor procedures by preparing rooms, instruments, and equipment
• Draft clinical notes, referral letters, and summaries for physician sign-off
• Provide physician-approved patient education and instructions
• Maintain exam room cleanliness, infection control, and sterilization standards

Administrative & Operations

• Greet patients and support smooth clinic flow
• Input, edit, and maintain electronic medical records (EMR) and correspondence
• Coordinate referrals, follow-ups, and diagnostic test tracking
• Maintain confidential patient records in compliance with PHIPA
• Support billing, insurance forms, and general administrative tasks
• Manage scheduling, phone calls, faxes, and front-desk responsibilities

Qualifications

• Medical Office Assistant diploma or equivalent experience preferred
• International Medical Graduate (IMG) with completed medical degree strongly preferred
• Prior clinical or patient-care experience is an asset
• Comfortable administering vaccines and performing basic clinical procedures
• Knowledge of EMR systems and clinical workflows
• Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred
