The Marketing and Communications department at UBC Sauder leads initiatives to build the brand and reputation of the school, both in domestic and global markets, and develops marketing and communication strategies to promote business objectives, including recruitment, student experience, fundraising and alumni and community engagement. The Digital Marketing Specialist is responsible for the coordination and execution of various marketing initiatives that promote UBC Sauder’s programs through digital and traditional channels – with an emphasis on email marketing and lead generation digital campaigns. Focusing on content creation, planning, and alignment with business goals, the Digital Marketing Specialist ensures the seamless delivery of campaigns and event promotions to target audiences – with the intent of helping to drive conversions, engagement, and brand visibility. Organizational Status The Digital Marketing Specialist reports to the Digital Marketing Manager, works within the Marketing and Communications department, and collaborates with stakeholders across various business units to align email marketing, digital campaigns, and other marketing strategies with organizational objectives. Work Performed Digital Marketing Works with the Digital Marketing Manager to create digital marketing campaigns to support business unit goals and KPIs. Supports market research initiatives to understand the target audience, and identifies marketing and growth opportunities. Implements campaigns across various digital channels, like email, social media, paid advertising and search. Measures and analyzes campaigns’ success using data and analytics tools. Facilitates stakeholder meetings and explains the campaign details to business unit partners with key performance metrics (KPIs). Email and Event Marketing Plans, manages and implements comprehensive email marketing campaigns, including audience segmentation, content creation, scheduling, and performance analysis. Coordinates email marketing initiatives in line with the overall marketing strategy to support program awareness, event promotion, and lead generation. Collaborates with internal stakeholders to gather content, create effective email templates, and manage distribution via email platforms like Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Campaigner. Implements A/B testing, monitors key performance indicators (KPIs), and optimizes email marketing performance. Leads the promotion of events, including open houses, webinars, and growth events, ensuring content and communication are aligned with marketing goals. Develops event-related email sequences, promotional collateral, and landing pages to drive event registration and attendance. Coordinates with internal teams to ensure all digital assets, including email invites, social posts, and web content, are updated and reflective of current events. Liaises with external vendors, including creative agencies, copywriters, and printers on the production of marketing and communications materials related to email and event campaigns. Ensures marketing assets are produced on time, within budget, and according to creative guidelines. Performs competitive analysis and research on email marketing trends, industry best practices, and audience engagement tactics. Content Development Writes, edits, and proofreads copy for email campaigns, event promotions, landing pages, and other digital/print collateral to ensure consistency in messaging and brand voice. Manages timelines and coordinates feedback from internal stakeholders and vendors to ensure all assets meet project requirements and are delivered on schedule. Collaborates with the Digital Experience Team to ensure web content and email campaign landing pages are updated to support promotional efforts. Supports the execution of print and digital media campaigns, assists with project coordination, and provides feedback on ongoing marketing initiatives. Performs other related duties as required. Consequence of Error/Judgement This role requires a high level of initiative, judgment, and professionalism in prioritizing tasks and ensuring quality execution of marketing projects. Errors in the execution of email marketing or event promotion campaigns may result in decreased engagement, missed conversion opportunities, and reputational damage to UBC Sauder. Supervision Received Reports to the Digital Marketing Manager and receives general direction on projects and campaigns. Supervision Given n/a Minimum Qualifications Diploma in Marketing. Minimum of one year of related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience. - Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including perspectives in conflict with one’s own - Demonstrates a commitment to enhancing one’s own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated knowledge of email marketing platforms (e.g., Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Mailchimp) and automation tools. Proficiency in campaign management, audience segmentation, and email analytics reporting. Event marketing experience, with strong organizational skills to manage multiple campaigns and event promotions simultaneously. Ability to interact professionally with both internal and external stakeholders. Strong verbal and written communication skills with exceptional attention to detail. A degree in Business, Communications, or a related field is preferred. Experience working in a similar marketing role within higher education or a related sector. Knowledge of digital marketing tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Hootsuite, Google Analytics, WordPress, etc.) is a strong asset.
