We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Accountant who can independently manage client files, prepare financial statements and tax returns, and contribute to improving internal processes and client experience.

Position: Senior AccountantKey ResponsibilitiesAccounting & Financial Reporting
- Manage full-cycle accounting for multiple client accounts across various industries
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and working papers
- Perform bank, credit card, loan, and intercompany reconciliations
- Review bookkeeping entries and maintain accurate general ledgers
- Prepare adjusting journal entries and year-end working papers
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis for clients
- Ensure accurate recording of revenues, expenses, payroll, and accruals
- Support year-end close processes and external reporting requirements
Tax Compliance
- Prepare and file Canadian personal tax returns (T1)
- Prepare and file Canadian corporate tax returns (T2)
- Prepare GST/HST returns, payroll remittances, and other CRA filings
- Identify tax planning opportunities and ensure compliance with CRA regulations
- Respond to CRA reviews, audits, and client tax inquiries when required
Client Management & Advisory
- Communicate directly with clients regarding financial records, deadlines, and outstanding items
- Build strong client relationships through timely communication and professional service
- Assist clients in improving bookkeeping systems and financial processes
- Provide insights into financial performance, profitability, and operational efficiency
- Work collaboratively with internal team members to ensure client deliverables are completed on time
Systems & Process Management
- Utilize accounting and practice management software efficiently
- Maintain organized digital files and documentation
- Assist in maintaining organized workflows and internal processes
- Ensure confidentiality and security of all client financial information
Qualifications & RequirementsTechnical Requirements
- Minimum 3+ years of accounting experience in a public accounting firm or bookkeeping/accounting environment
- Strong understanding of Canadian accounting principles and tax regulations
- Experience preparing T1 and T2 tax returns independently
- Hands-on experience with:
- QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop
- CaseWare
- Microsoft Excel (advanced functions including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP)
- Experience using cloud-based accounting and document management systems is considered an asset
- Experience with year-end files and working paper preparation
- Knowledge of payroll processing and CRA remittance requirements
