Job Description
Position Summary:
We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Shipper/Receiver with strong forklift skills and hands-on experience in packing and crating large machinery. The ideal candidate will have a background in rigging, millwrighting, or a similar industrial field, and be comfortable handling oversized or sensitive equipment. This role is key to ensuring the safe and efficient flow of materials in and out of our facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive incoming shipments and inspect for damage, quantity, and accuracy
- Prepare outbound shipments, including custom crating, blocking/bracing, and packaging of large or heavy machinery
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment to move goods safely
- Load and unload trucks and containers, ensuring safe handling of machinery and components
- Maintain accurate shipping and receiving records in inventory/ERP systems
- Collaborate with production and project teams to meet shipping deadlines and special handling requirements
- Perform basic rigging and lifting operations using, hoists, and slings (preferred)
- Assist with warehouse organization, material storage, and stock rotation
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work environment
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in a shipping/receiving or warehouse environment
- Proven forklift operation experience, preferably certified (or willing to obtain certification)
- Strong experience packing, crating, and handling large or sensitive machinery
- Familiarity with rigging, load securing, and heavy equipment handling
- Millwright or rigger experience preferred
- Ability to read and interpret shipping documents, bills of lading, and basic engineering drawings
- Basic computer skills (shipping software, inventory systems, email)
- Physically fit and able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safety
Preferred Certifications (Assets):
- Forklift Certification (Counterbalance / Reach / Sit-down)
- WHMIS / First Aid
- Rigger or Millwright Trade Certification (Apprentice or Journeyman)
Work Environment
- Industrial shop and warehouse setting
- Exposure to machinery, moving equipment, and occasional outdoor work
- PPE required (steel-toe boots, safety glasses, etc.)
Pay: $28.00-$36.00 per hour
