Job Description
NUMIS CPAsis looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our growing Cross Border Tax team. This role is ideal for a tax professional with experience in Canadian and U.S. taxation who enjoys working closely with individuals, entrepreneurs, and privately held businesses navigating cross-border tax matters.
*Please note US Tax Experience and Cross Border Experience is required for this role*
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review U.S. and Canadian personal tax returns, supporting workpapers, and related tasks to help clients maintain compliance on both sides of the border.
- Preparation of required foreign disclosure forms, such as FBAR, Form 8938, and T1135.
- Prepare complex compilation engagements, review engagements and various other accounting assignments
- Manage file progress and workflow
- Review working papers and support for the completion of financial statements
- Review corporate tax returns
- Review sales tax returns
- Review monthly bookkeeping engagements
- Utilize technology to maximize efficiency and accuracy
- Providing ongoing support and mentoring for the professional development of accounting staff
- Contribute to client satisfaction by providing clients with exceptional quality, timely and responsive services
Qualifications
- CPA Designation is preferred
- 2-3+ years with relevant public practice experience within Cross Border Tax (US Experience is required)
- Experience with Caseware, CCH iFirm, Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, Sharepoint)
- Exposure to paperless systems, including QuickBooks Online, Asana, and SharePoint considered an asset
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English
- Excellent time management skills
- The ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively with the team when required
- Driven to meet simultaneous deadlines and adapt to competing priorities
