Job Description

Role Purpose

The Dean – School of Education is responsible for providing academic, administrative, and strategic leadership to the School of Education. The role ensures excellence in teacher education, curriculum design, research, accreditation compliance, faculty development, and community engagement while aligning with national education policies such as NEP 2020, NCTE norms, and UGC guidelines.

Key Responsibilities1. Academic Leadership & Program Development

  • Lead all teacher education programs such as B.Ed., M.Ed., D.El.Ed., Ph.D. in Education, and other allied programs.
  • Design, review, and implement curriculum aligned with NEP 2020, outcome-based education, and competency-based teacher training frameworks.
  • Ensure high-quality teaching-learning processes, continuous assessment, and academic excellence.
  • Introduce innovative pedagogy, digital learning methods, and modern educational technologies.
  • Monitor academic calendars, examinations, internships, and practicum activities.

2. Teacher Training & Professional Development

  • Strengthen pre-service and in-service teacher education programs.
  • Organize workshops, FDPs, seminars, and training programs for faculty and student-teachers.
  • Promote reflective teaching practices, micro-teaching, and classroom innovation.
  • Build capacity in inclusive education, special education, and ICT-enabled teaching.

3. Research & Academic Advancement

  • Promote research in education, pedagogy, curriculum studies, and educational psychology.
  • Encourage publications in reputed journals and participation in conferences.
  • Facilitate funded research projects and collaborations with educational bodies.
  • Support development of teaching-learning materials and innovations in education.

4. Accreditation, Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure compliance with NCTE, UGC, NAAC, and other regulatory frameworks.
  • Lead accreditation processes, documentation, audits, and quality assurance initiatives.
  • Maintain academic standards, institutional benchmarks, and policy implementation.
  • Ensure adherence to national and institutional education standards.

5. Faculty Management & Development

  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, mentoring, and performance evaluation of faculty.
  • Promote continuous professional development and academic upskilling.
  • Encourage interdisciplinary collaboration and team-based academic delivery.
  • Set faculty performance metrics and ensure accountability.

6. School Internship, School Partnerships & Community Engagement

  • Develop partnerships with schools for teaching practice and internships.
  • Strengthen school–university collaboration for real-world training.
  • Promote community-based education programs and outreach initiatives.
  • Ensure effective fieldwork, internships, and teaching practice supervision.

7. Student Development & Academic Support

  • Ensure student success, progression, and professional readiness as educators.
  • Address academic and personal development needs of student-teachers.
  • Promote co-curricular activities, teaching competitions, and leadership development.
  • Strengthen placement support in schools, ed-tech companies, and education NGOs.

8. Administration & Strategic Development

  • Prepare annual academic plans, budgets, and strategic growth initiatives.
  • Oversee infrastructure, learning resources, and digital learning systems.
  • Participate in university governance and academic committees.
  • Drive admissions, program expansion, and institutional reputation building.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Ph.D. in Education or related discipline.
  • Master’s Degree in Education (M.Ed.) or relevant field.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in teaching, research, or academic administration.
  • At least 5 years in leadership role (Principal / Professor / HoD / Dean).
  • Strong record of publications and academic contributions.
  • Experience with NCTE, NAAC accreditation processes preferred.
