Location: South Chesterfield - 1st Shift - Service Dept.
SUMMARY
This role requires a skilled individual to perform manual and clerical work in the receiving and storing of materials in a warehouse environment. The Receiving Clerk must be an individual who communicates effectively and demonstrates a high degree of concern for the work, the workplace, and fellow employees.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Receiving, processing and checking of merchandise to verify the correctness of the shipment against all documentation.
- Prepare documentation such as work orders, bills of lading and shipment orders to route materials.
- Verification and data entry of all incoming material shipments.
- Examine contents and compare with records, such as manifest, invoices or orders to verify accuracy of incoming or outgoing shipment.
- Record shipment data such as weight, charges, space availability, damages and discrepancies for reporting, accounting and recordkeeping purposes.
- Contact carrier representatives to plan and to issue instructions for shipment and delivery of raw materials.
- Communicate with establishment representatives to rectify problems such as damage, shortages, and non‑conformance to specifications and file freight claims.
- Compute amounts, such as space available, storage, shipping and demurrage charges using a calculator or price list.
- Maintain Raw Materials Receiving Calendar.
- Monitor receiving materials and supplies to maintain inventory of stock.
- Deliver or route materials to departments, using work devices, such as hand truck, conveyor, or sorting bins.
- Additional responsibilities as requested by Supervisor/Manager.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively with multi‑functional and diverse backgrounds.
- Must possess excellent communication skills.
- Must be detail‑oriented and able to perform well in a fast‑paced environment.
- Must be self‑motivated and able to demonstrate sound judgment when confronted with unexpected or unfamiliar work and/or people situations.
- Accurate typing skills and/or data entry skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet, web‑based and job specific software applications.
- AS400 and Oracle experience preferred.
- Strong computer literacy.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- One to three years related experience
