DevOps Architect, Trilogy (Remote) - $100,000/year USD

You are the engineer who maintains availability for more than 50 SaaS products when others are improvising. We need DevOps professionals capable of entering unknown AWS environments, restoring order from instability, and driving uptime beyond 99.9% through genuine monitoring, automation, and root cause analysis. You will break down complex projects into single-day increments, deliver production-ready Python or JavaScript code, and leverage AI as your assistant.

Many organizations talk about "cloud" while manually tending infrastructure. We are systematizing reliability across multiple acquired products whose original creators have departed and whose documentation is incomplete. The challenge is compelling: you will employ agents and current tooling to explore unfamiliar systems 5–10 times faster, document your findings, and automate solutions so recurring failures are eliminated. Rather than judging you on certifications and vendor badges, we will observe you troubleshoot in real time, produce a proper 5-Whys analysis that identifies a single preventable root cause, and construct automations that withstand production conditions.

This is not an L2 "execute the script" position. In this capacity, you author the procedures, architect the deployment path from development through staging to 10% then 100% with soak periods and rollback logic, and create the monitoring that detects corner cases. You refuse dangerous changes before they reach production. You distinguish infrastructure failures under your domain from application bugs owned by Engineering, and you route permanent remedies to the appropriate team.

You will operate at the engineering center of reliability, managing infrastructure initiatives, incident triage and root cause documentation, and change tickets with executable runbooks. What You Will Be Doing

• Sophisticated infrastructure migrations, system consolidations, production-quality automations, and monitoring enhancements
• Troubleshooting live outages, deploying immediate remediation, and documenting root cause analyses with lasting fixes delegated to the owning teams
• Authoring, validating, and running production changes, including assessing whether a proposed change is safe to proceed

What You Won’t Be Doing

• Spending your time in Jira and perpetual status calls - we prioritize individuals who deliver solutions, not merely document issues
• Supporting legacy systems without end - you will have the mandate to pursue substantive enhancements
• Waiting on bureaucratic sign-off processes - you will possess the authority to implement urgent fixes during incidents

DevOps Architect Key Responsibilities

• Advance reliability and consistency of cloud infrastructure across our expanding product suite by deploying comprehensive monitoring, automation, and AWS best practices.

Basic Requirements

• Extensive AWS infrastructure knowledge (this is our core platform - expertise in other clouds alone is insufficient)
• Track record managing substantial production infrastructure and diagnosing live outages autonomously (not merely executing a playbook)
• Proven scripting capability with Python and Bash for routine administrative tasks
• Hands-on experience administering and migrating production databases across multiple engines (including MySql, Postgres, Oracle, MS-SQL)
• Practical experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation)
• Expert-level Linux systems administration

Working with us

This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $50 USD/hour, which equates to $100,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
