Location: Tucson or Greater Phoenix, Arizona (Remote Position)
Start date: ASAP
Duration: Contract-to-hire, long term
Pay range: $75-$100/hour W2 DOE
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager and Client Account Leader to support the growth of a strategic mining and minerals client while leading multidisciplinary engineering projects. This individual will play a key role in managing client relationships, expanding account opportunities, and delivering high-quality engineering solutions for mining facilities and related operations. Typical engineering projects will be small to medium-sized CAPEX and sustaining capital frontend studies and engineering projects: process, mechanical, civil, structural, electrical, water/environmental, and controls, construction support, etc.
The ideal candidate brings strong project management experience, a deep understanding of mining and mineral processing environments, and existing relationships within strategic mining accounts. Established connections with client engineering, project, and/or procurement teams are a strong plus. This role also offers the potential to help develop a local engineering and design team in the Arizona area.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of multidisciplinary engineering projects for mining, mineral processing, and heavy industrial clients.
· Serve as a trusted client account leader for a strategic mining relationship.
· Support growth of the account through strong client engagement, responsiveness, and identification of new opportunities.
· Build and maintain relationships with client engineering, project, operations, and procurement teams.
· Attend client bid meetings onsite (or virtual), and develop engineering proposals.
· Conduct business development meetings onsite.
· Coordinate internal teams across multiple engineering disciplines to deliver quality project solutions.
· Manage scope, schedule, budget, risk, and quality across the project lifecycle.
· Support proposal development, scope definition, and fee estimating for project pursuits.
· Identify and develop opportunities for repeat business, expanded services, and long-term account growth.
· Communicate effectively with clients, internal teams, and leadership to ensure alignment and successful delivery.
· Oversee project performance and ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality expectations.
· Contribute to broader business development efforts within the mining market.
· Support the development and growth of a local engineering and design team in Arizona.
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor of Science in Engineering required (or equivalent).
· 10-20 years of relevant experience in engineering project management, client account leadership, or related roles.
· MSHA 24-hour Surface Miner Training (or 8-hour Refresher)
· Experience working in mining facilities and/or serving mining industry clients: smelters, concentrators, refineries, etc.
· Ability to develop detailed engineering proposals and fee estimates.
· Proven success managing multidisciplinary engineering projects and frontend studies (OoM, PFS, FS)
· Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
· Ability to operate effectively in a client-facing role with both technical and business stakeholders.
· Based in Tucson (preferred) or the Greater Phoenix area, or willing to work from one of these locations.
· Strong communication, leadership, organizational, high-energy, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
· Existing relationships with strategic mining client engineering, project, and/or procurement teams.
· Experience working for a mining company in engineering, projects, operations, and/or maintenance roles.
· Experience growing and managing key client accounts.
· Background supporting proposals, pursuits, and account development.
· Familiarity with mining operations, processing facilities, infrastructure, and capital project delivery.
· Experience building or mentoring local engineering and design teams.
· Professional Engineering license preferred, but not required.
