Overview CAREER OPPORTUNITY Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighter (ARFF) Recruitment Competition Canadian Base Operators, 15 Wing Moose Jaw, is recruiting candidates who are interested in future ARFF positions.
Submit an application today to join our talent pool for future openings. Canadian Base Operators’ Moose Jaw Team is recruiting for a permanent Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighter (ARFF) position. Our team of professional Firefighters supports Canada’s Royal Canadian Air Force and Aviators during their time at CFB Moose Jaw – 2 Canadian Forces Flying Training School. We specialize in crash fire rescue response for two primary aircraft: CT-156 Harvard II and the CT-114 Tutor (Canadian Snowbird 431 Air Demonstration Squadron). We provide fire inspection and support services for 15 Wing as a component of our regular duties. Our team currently operates on a 2-Platoon system with a 7 day on – 7 day off rotation and 12 hour days (except Sundays at 8 hours); this is subject to change if operationally required.
Statement of Duties – Job Description General Accountability
Under the direction of the Site Manager/Captain, the Firefighter is responsible for responding as a member of the duty crew to all aircraft emergencies and provides standby support for hazardous material spills during flying hours. The Firefighter will participate in daily training and exercises, verify the operational readiness of the fire vehicle and onboard equipment, and assist in maintaining an adequate inventory of firefighting consumable stores.
Structure Firefighters report to the Fire Chief and Captains.
Specific Accountabilities
Perform inspections, testing, maintenance, repairs, and tasks generated by the CMMS and as required by regulatory standards.
Respond as a firefighter to all aircraft emergency situations.
Perform daily vehicle and equipment checks and verify personal protective equipment.
Inspect and coordinate maintenance for handheld fire extinguishers of all classes.
Ensure adequate numbers of charged breathing air cylinders are on hand.
Conduct various building and fire inspections.
Assist and maintain training and incident logs.
Participate in daily fitness training program.
Conduct Inspection, Testing and Maintenance (ITM) of all fire alarm and suppression systems for the entire Wing.
Attend CARS Re-certification – Live Fire Training – participate annually.
Maintain a high level of security while performing and executing their scope of work.
Support and participate in Canadian Base Operators Safety Program, HSE and Environmental policies and procedures.
Ensure proper maintenance and repair of all tools and equipment.
Other firefighting duties as required within the capabilities of the individual.
Mandatory Skills and Qualifications
Firefighter Level II (NFPA 1001) – Proboard or IFSAC Certified
Fire Apparatus Driver / Operator (NFPA 1002) – Proboard or IFSAC Certified
Airport Fire Fighter (NFPA 1003) – Proboard or IFSAC Certified
Standard First Aid and CPR C
Fire Inspector Level 1 (NFPA 1031) desirable but not mandatory
Portable Fire Extinguisher Inspection and Maintenance certification (NFPA 10) desirable but not mandatory
Strong leadership and communications skills
Familiarity with hazardous material spill cleanup procedures for storing and handling hazardous materials is desirable but not mandatory
Strong planning, organization and execution skills
Strong understanding of computer maintenance management systems, databases, spreadsheets and Word processing programs in Windows
Valid Class 5A driver’s license
Must pass an enhanced reliability security clearance
Must pass a physical abilities test
Adheres to company HSE and Environmental policies and procedures

WHMIS Training
Ramp DDC course
Radio Proficiency
QNFT Fit Test
SCBA Training
PFE Training
All licenses and certificates must be valid and current. Copies of all applicable licensing requirements are to be supplied to the HR department.
Recruitment Competition Information Applicant Assessment Process:
Stage 1: Applicants will be screened for minimum qualifications.
Stage 2: Qualified applicants will be invited to participate in a Physical Abilities Test.
Stage 3: Selected applicants will be invited to attend an in-person interview after the Physical Abilities Test.
Stage 4: Selected applicants will be contacted to offer employment or a position on an eligibility list.
