Firefighter – Industrial Fire Department (Moses Lake, WA)
This position is part of a large industrial fire response organization supporting aviation manufacturing and flight operations. The role focuses on protecting personnel, facilities, equipment, and the environment through emergency response, fire prevention, hazardous materials management, and rescue operations. The firefighter works in a structured shift environment and must be capable of responding to a wide range of emergency scenarios in an industrial and aviation setting.
Work Schedule
This role follows a 24-hour shift schedule with rotational coverage to ensure continuous emergency response readiness. Additional travel may be required for operational support or training assignments.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to emergency incidents involving personnel, buildings, equipment, and environmental hazards
- Provide emergency medical care as an EMT-level responder
- Respond to structural fires, vehicle fires, and other fire-related emergencies
- Perform Aircraft Rescue Firefighting (ARFF) operations related to aviation incidents
- Conduct confined space rescue operations when required
- Respond to hazardous materials incidents and support mitigation efforts
- Investigate and respond to fire and safety alarms
- Support fire protection system inspections, maintenance, and impairment activities
- Participate in hot work monitoring and control procedures
- Conduct fire prevention inspections and risk reduction activities
- Maintain and develop operational readiness through ongoing training
- Deliver safety and emergency preparedness training to internal and external groups
- Support emergency planning and response coordination activities
Required Qualifications and Certifications
- Valid driver’s license with eligibility to obtain a Washington State driver’s license within 30 days of employment
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification (National Registry, Washington State, or equivalent U.S. state certification)
- Eligibility to obtain reciprocity within 30 days of hire, with completion required within 6 months
- Firefighter I certification from State, IFSAC, or Pro Board
- Ability to pass and maintain annual firefighter and hazardous materials physical fitness and stress testing
- Ability to obtain Hazardous Materials Technician certification within 1 year of hire
Preferred Qualifications
- Firefighter II certification (State, IFSAC, or Pro Board)
- Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) certification from FAA, IFSAC, or Pro Board
- Previous experience in full-time, part-time, or volunteer firefighting roles
- Experience in aircraft rescue firefighting operations
- Familiarity with fire codes, fire prevention practices, and safety regulations
- Experience handling hazardous materials incidents
