Senior GIS Software Specialist (remote)

12 month remote contract

Job Description

Development of software applications for our client focusing on informatics systems.

At a minimum, the candidate is expected to perform the following:

• Candidates should have a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience
• Propose software architecture design
• Complete code reviews
• Write code for new features and enhancements.
• Compile/Debug applications/programs.
• Develop automated test programs.
• Perform software tests.
• Compile information for and write portions of technical reports and program documentation.
• Gather and write requirements.
• Assist in the maintenance of the existing code base.

Responsibilities

• Perform software development tasks for systems or segments of large complex systems using a standard set of software engineering practices, development tools, equipment, and technologies.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Detailed knowledge of C#
• Experience with ESRI ArcGIS SDKs
• Experience with code source control through Git
• Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio 2022 or 2026 in a Team Foundation Server (TFS) environment (including source control)
• Experience in requirements writing
• Experience with automated unit testing, test case design and software debugging
• Experience performing and responding to code reviews
• Knowledge of Microsoft Server 2022/2025 and Windows 11 development environments
• Understanding of the software development lifecycle
• Excellent English language communications skills

Optional Skill Set:

Experience in any of the following would be considered assets:

• Experience and knowledge of C++, and MFC
• Experience with Web technologies (HTML, XML, XSDs, JavaScript/Typescript)
• Experience with Databases (SQL, SQL Server, Oracle)
• Experience with generation of regular expressions
• Experience with PowerShell scripting language
• Experience and knowledge of Service Oriented Architecture programming
• Experience in an agile development environment
• Knowledge of MS Windows-based servers operating in a VM environment.
• Understanding of Internet protocols, firewalls, VPNs and general communications programming
• Experience and knowledge of development practices in a secure environment
