Remote Bookkeeper

Andrew Kreps Gallery is seeking a bookkeeper for immediate hire who can work remotely and attend regular in-person meetings/check-ins at the gallery. This role will begin as a full-time, independently contracted position for approximately 3 months to support financial organization, workflow management, and system oversight during a high-volume period. Following this initial term, the role will transition into an ongoing part-time position.Responsibilities include but not limited to: Monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, credit cards, and petty cashAccounts Payables management, bill entry, and bill paymentsAccounts receivables management, invoice entry, and receiving paymentsCredit card and EFT entryBi-monthly payroll processingCommissions tracking and paymentManagement of artist accounts and statement paymentsSales reporting to DirectorsWorking closely with the Gallery Owner and Manager to prioritize paymentsManage cash flowWork closely with the Gallery Accountant on tax preparation and paymentsMonthly NYS sales tax filing and payment, along with remote seller sales tax locationsHealth, Art, Business insurance managementFiling annual 1099s for independent contractorsTracking employee vacation and sick leaveFile annual workers’ compensation auditsTend to HR duties when neededManage internal financial systems and practicesCorrectly record and account for payables related to invoice sales using a class & matching invoice number systemRequirements: BA degree required3+ years of professional experienceComprehensive knowledge of Quickbooks, Microsoft Suite, and Adobe SuiteComfortable navigating banking platformsComprehensive knowledge of Tax LawsKnowledge of gallery-related programs such as Artlogic is a plusKnowledge of Contemporary Art is a plusExcellent communication skills required
