Location: Alberta (remote, with occasional in-person meetings)
Commitment: ~2-8 hours/month
Term: 2-3 years (renewable)

The Opportunity
We are seeking a Treasurer to join our Board of Directors at an exciting time of renewal and growth.
ASN is evolving its operating model, expanding its reach, and strengthening its financial sustainability. The Treasurer will play a critical role in helping guide the organization through this next phase - ensuring strong financial stewardship, transparency, and strategic decision-making.

Role Overview
As Treasurer, you will provide financial oversight and leadership to the Board and work closely with the Executive Director.
Key responsibilities include:
- Overseeing the financial health and sustainability of the organization
- Ensuring accurate financial records and reporting including compliance with all regulatory, audit, and reporting requirements
- Supporting the development and monitoring of the annual budget
- Presenting financial updates to the Board, including monitoring cash flow, investments, and overall financial health
- Ensuring audited financial statements are prepared for the AGM
- Advising on financial policies, controls, and risk management
- Supporting funding strategy discussions and long-term planning
- Chairing the Finance Committee
- Supporting budgeting, financial planning, and internal controls
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who brings both financial expertise and a collaborative, forward-looking mindset.
Preferred qualifications
- CPA designation or equivalent financial/accounting experience
- Experience in nonprofit, charity, or board governance (strong asset)
- Understanding of budgeting, financial reporting, and audit processes
- Strategic thinker able to connect financial insight to organizational direction
- Comfortable working at both governance and operational levels
- Passion for education, science, or community impact

Time Commitment
- Monthly online board meetings (typically evenings)
