Job Description

We are seeking a Mechanical Assembly Technician who will assemble and test optical systems in accordance with delivery schedules. This role involves assembling and aligning multi-element lens and mirror systems, integrating opto-mechanical assemblies with electronics, and performing both optical and mechanical testing and evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and align multi-element lens and mirror systems and sub-assemblies.
• Integrate opto-mechanical assemblies with electronics.
• Perform optical and mechanical test and evaluation.
• Assist with the inspection of incoming optical, mechanical, and electronic components.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency with hand tools and blueprints.
• Experience in mechanical assembly and optical inspection.
• Knowledge of electronic components and electrical assemblies.
• Understanding of proper handling of precision optics, mirrors, lenses, and filters.
• High degree of precision, fine motor skills, and patience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Ability to use a microscope.
• Capability to read complex assembly drawings, diagrams, and instructions, and follow a logical sequence or specific set of rules.

Work Environment

You will work in a small team environment with a company in the early stages of growth. The role requires the ability to sit and concentrate for extended periods and communicate clearly in English. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 7 am to 4 pm.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Herndon, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
